Biography

Jim Loomis
Director, New Yorkers for Verified Voting

Jim Loomis retired in the spring of 2003, as Director of Production Facilities, at the Roy H. Park School of Communications, at Ithaca College, where he worked for 34 years. His Bachelor of Science in Television and Radio and Masters of Science in Communications are both from Ithaca College.

As Program Director for the Spencer – Van Etten Community Access to Technology workshops [C-A-T Labs] for the Youth and Community Foundation of Spencer - Van Etten (New York), Jim is responsible for preparing and delivering instruction about home computer use.

Jim has served the Spencer – Van Etten Central School District as a member of the Board of Education, on and off since 1973 (Currently, serving as Board President.), including 16 years of simultaneous service on the Schuyler – Chemung – Tioga Board of Cooperative Education Services (SCT BOCES) Board of Education. He also serves as Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the Rural Schools Association of New York State.

He became involved with NYVV after hearing discussions about electronic voting by Bo Lipari and the Finger Lakes Progressives. Jim has long been concerned about the integrity of the election process and was recently certified as an Election Inspector for Chemung County.

Jim enjoys small community life and hiking the many back roads and trails in the Finger Lakes Area of New York State. In 2007, he was elected as a Village of Van Etten Trustee.
